If you are a very shy person, the thought of talking to strangers may make you extremely nervous. There is an instant uneasiness if you think about talking to new people. Extreme amount of shyness can cause social inhibitions which lead to disruption of normal social interaction with people. Some scientists think that the familial conditioning is responsible for the emotional development of people. It looks as if DNA of certain people has been designed for shyness. Some people can overcome the disorder but few of them suffer this problem even till their old age. The internet is partly to blame for this since the people become used to interaction via email and undertake computer games, which leads to retardation of their social characteristics and skills. Ask yourself the question about when do you feel shy. Do you have negative thoughts and predictions automatically? Before you start believing that the negative assumption you are making is fact, try and challenge your thought process.

As a shy person, you need to start ingraining the thought the what you are thinking is only a guess. Do not focus too much on anything that reconfirms your belief on anxiety. Instead, shift your focus and attention on something that is opposite. In reality, one cannot please everyone at the same time.

Face the situation bravely and put yourself in the front seat. Exposure can serve as a treatment because intentionally you put yourself in uncomfortable situations, which can be overcome. One of the best ways possible is to keep facing your fears again and again so that they become irrelevant and fade away. Start attracting what you fear the most and this way you will feel that it is not a big deal anyways. Nevertheless, you will face issues in the beginning, it is important that you start doing it the soonest possible. Never delay this as it also elongates your suffering.

Shyness happens to be a personality characteristic and not a psychological imbalance or disorder. It has varying degrees of shyness. Some people simply can’t face crowd and then there are some who want to live like hermits, totally cut off from the world. That’s not the way one should be living their life. Some shy people treat shyness as a cocoon. The cocoon provides them warmth, quietness and aloofness. At the same time, it is very dark, lonely and confining.

Ask your family members and friends to support you. When you are in a difficult situation they will lend their help and provide pointers to you. If you know that there is someone out there to hand hold you, it becomes quite easy and comforting. Very soon, you will realize that you are gradually losing your fears and gaining confidence. When you attain a good social life, you will have a realization that how easy and comforting it is to meet people.

One now has many remedies to minimize shyness. Start taking one step a day or week, which will ensure that shyness turns out to be history. One can try a lot of other things as well, but these pointers can help you get to the right direction.
