High fat meats and fatty meats prepared with extra spice can trigger heartburn. Avoid marbled sirloin, ground beef, chicken nuggets and Buffalo chicken wings. The first three are high in fat, the last is high in fat and spicy.
You should also avoid foods which are high in sugar, oils and fats. Chocolate contains all of these ingredients for a really bad heartburn attack. You will also want to avoid some pastas. Mac and cheese and spaghetti with tomato sauce are among some of the worst of these foods.
Finally, there are some dairy products you may want to avoid. These include cottage cheese, ice cream, milk shakes and sour cream.
By avoiding these trigger foods you may also avoid heartburn. If you suffer major attacks, try avoiding all the foods at first, then slowly see what you can add back to your diet and still avoid heartburn.
