If you are engaged in a profession that requires rigorous movement and action in the knee and feet, you’ll be seriously surprised at how much wear and tear your legs undergo everyday. Dancers and ballerinas, construction workers and field agents, even your ordinary salesmen. Competitors, gymnasts, sportsmen, no matter how good the regiment of exercise is for them, the knee ends up taking the brunt of the stress. This haphazard lifestyle is no good, and will take but little time before the knees end up buckling.

Whether just brisk walking, or full-forwards sprinting, doing too much will always result to injury. When you hear your knees cracking or popping, it means it’s out of its usual spot, and happens when you do too much exercise, and little rest. Same goes with rhythmic exercise programs that ask you to bend so much on little intervals.

When pains in the joint rears its ugly head, there are always three things you should observe when you experience this; ice bags, a lot of rest, and doing light exercise. These three can keep a raging knee under control. Knee and joint pains are a sign that you’re overworking some muscles while under working others. If this happens, sit down and think about which muscles are ignored when you are working out.

The muscles that need strengthening when addressing knee joints are the gluteal muscles which support your rear. The hamstrings, which can be found in your legs. The lower back muscles and the quadriceps, all connecting to ligament and bone. When one of these groups are ignored, the full stress goes to the other group which causes initial pain, stress, tiring easily and finally collapse.

If you are adapting a new routine, make sure to start the body in a slow, controlled pace. Allow your body to adjust and make sure that your body would have adapted to the poses and movements of the new routine. Work on your posture as well, since posture shifting can cause stress to the focused knee. Keep your weight at a healthy level and always check where your center of gravity is. Visit the doctor once in a while if you feel something is wrong.
