Okay now let’s focus on four foods that not only may help protect you against prostate cancer, they will also help with that weight thing too. Because overall the plan should be to put less meat and less saturated fat on your plate while piling on the fruits and veggies.

One well known prostate power food is tomatoes. Making them a good place to start our list. The reason for this is tomatoes are rich in lycopene. This is an antioxident seen in many veggies but is found in particularly concentrated form in tomatoes. Any type of tomato product works – meaning fresh tomatoes, tomato sauce even pizza sauce counts. Eat enough tomatoes in any form and you can cut the risk of developing prostate cancer by as much as a third.

Then how often do you eat peas? Five times a week has been shown to make a difference with prostate health. That frequency has been linked to lower incidence of disease. So you may want to learn to love your peas too.

It’s also helpful to eat plenty of cruciferous veggies. What\’s that? Things like broccoli and cauliflower which also make many lists of good for you foods. Four servings is all its takes to possibly lower your prostate cancer risk profile with these.

Now I know the mere mention of tofu is enough to get some noses out of joint. Yet those who choose to eat so as to avoid prostate problems may want to learn to like soy products as well. Again because as one study found eating them regularly cuts your cancer risk by up to 30%. Which safely puts them into the prostate power food category too.

Look, just because you’ve got a family history of prostate problems doesn’t mean you are doomed to fall prey to this disease. Eating right, keeping your weight in check and a healthy lifestyle can all work together to minimize your risk profile.
