Yes, even people with heart failure can do steps to improve their condition naturally through exercise for the heart. If you have heart failure symptoms which may range from mild to severe, be sure to check with your health practitioner before you start any form of cardiovascular activity. Have yourself evaluated first.

Below are some guidelines for exercise for the heart for people with heart failure:

1. Steer clear of isometric exercises like sit-ups or push-ups. These types of exercises involve straining your muscles against each other or against a fixed object.

2. Ensure that any exercise that you perform is balanced with rest and well paced.

3. Be sure to keep yourself hydrated throughout the exercise. It is highly essential for you to consume water even before you feel like drinking, most especially during hot or humid days. Remember though, not to consume too much. Always keep in mind your health practitioner’s guidelines as to the quantity of fluid that you can consume daily.

4. Avoid performing any form of exercise outdoors during extremes in weather - if it’s too humid, hot or cold. Extreme temperatures may interfere with your body’s circulation, causing chest pain and making breathing difficult. High humidity will cause you to become tired quickly. You are better off with indoor activities during these days like walking inside the mall.

5. Avoid exercising in hilly areas. If it’s necessary for you to tread in steep areas, be sure to avoid walking too hard and to slow down when you are walking uphill. As you do this, monitor your heart rate closely.

6. After exercise, avoid sauna baths or extremely hot and cold showers. These extreme temperatures will boost the heart’s workload.

7. In any case that your exercise program has been interrupted for a couple of days (due to a vacation, bad weather or illness), be sure to ease back to your routine gradually. You can begin with a reduced activity level and slowly, increase it until you are back to your normal routine.

Be sure to contact your health practitioner if you experience the following symptoms:

1.Congested lungs

2.Water or fluid retention

3.Irregular or rapid heartbeats

4.Fatigue, weakness and dizziness

Like any other form of exercise, exercise for the heart should be done while keeping safety health precautions in mind. Be sure to follow these tips closely.
