Statistics show that Americans are more overweight than other countries by far. Losing weight means looking better, having more energy, lowering health risks and living longer.

There are only two ways to accomplish it. The first is by watching what you eat and eating less and the second is by seeing to it that your body burns more calories than it takes in.

1. Your body needs a lot of water so give in to water. Water is not just a way to flush out toxin but if you have more water in your body you will generally feel healthier and fitter. You will feel fuller and therefore eat less but water has no calories.

Weight Loss2. Stay away from sodas as they are sweetened with sugar and sugar means calories. The more you can cut out sweetened drinks, the better for weight loss but if you must drink sodas at least drink diet sodas.

3. Eat fresh fruit instead of drinking fruit juice. Juice is often sweetened but fresh fruits have natural sugars. When you eat fruit, you are taking in a lot of fiber, which is needed by the body, and fruits of course are an excellent source of vitamins.

4. Eat items that are rich in water such as watermelon. This means that you can eat more but since they are 90% water there ar virtually no calories to worry about.

5. Avoid canned fruits since fresh fruit is fiber rich and naturally sweetened unlike canned which usually has a lot of sugar added. Sugar = more calories.

6. Get more fiber because your body needs it.

7. The more you watch what you are putting in your body, the more you can make sensible choices and avoid high calorie, low benefit foods. There are times when the garnishes may have more calories than the food.

8. Junk foods as well as snacks foods are full of calories and no nutritional benefit. They are usually more fattening and do not make you feel full therefore you usually eat more of them.

9. A diet rich in vegetables are better for losing weight and fat. The best choices are leafy green vegetables so try to include a salad with your meal and try to limit or skip rich salad dressings.

10.Eat intelligently. Don’t just eat something because you feel like eating it. Maybe you are really just thirsty.
