Menopause is different for each woman that goes through it. Women vary with what their menopause symptoms are. Some have very light symptoms of occasional hot flashes, a few mood swings, and an occasional night sweat. Other women have hot flashes several times a day along with massive mood swings. They also have nightly night sweats, no sexual drive, and even vaginal dryness.

Why you may start menopause early is not clear, but it can make you feel very frustrated about to effectively deal with it. Often there are specific reasons for menopause to happen to you early in life. Here are some of those reasons

A hysterectomy will lead you to menopause immediately and women have these for a number of reasons and sometimes this can be at an early age. Cancer can mean the need for one but even without a hysterectomy, women undergoing treatment for cancer can experience menopause. For some it is temporary whilst for others it remains permanent.

Premature ovarian failure (POV) can cause early menopause. When this happens the ovaries stop egg production and also hormones cease to be produced. POV can be caused by autoimmune diseases and a genetic predisposition can increase the likelihood.

Symptoms including mood swings, night sweats, insomnia, headaches, muscle pain and hot flashes are not uncommon and whilst similar to those that occur regularly in menopause, they can be more severe for women who experience early menopause due to illness and surgery.

Along with mood swings, women can get quite depressed, forgetful, and have cravings. Hormone levels changing in the woman’s body cause this. When menopause is brought on early, women go through these symptoms much faster than in natural menopause. Women suffer a severe rapid loss of estrogen and this leads to all the symptoms mentioned.

Many women have benefited from hormone replacement therapy (HRT) as a method of treatment for early menopause. It is possible to get patches instead of pills. These slowly deposit estrogen into the body through the skin. It is important to try to get involved with a support group to help you through the bad days that you may experience. Friends and family as well as other women going through menopause can be a great source of strength and support.

Red clover isoflavone or Black Cohosh have been suggested as supplements to take in order to reduce hot flashes and other related symptoms of menopause. Evening Primrose Oil, Vitex Agnus Castus, and Dong Quai are also commonly used to help. Any good health food store will be able to supply you with these however you should take appropriate advice and educate yourself before taking any supplements or HRT treatment.
