When using positive thinking affirmations, it’s best to follow a regular routine and specific way of doing your affirmations because that way once you get used to it, it becomes second nature. The early stages of doing affirmations are usually easy because you are driven and raring to go, but once a few days pass by, it requires more focus and control to maintain the affirmation program for the full thirty days. Try doing the following five steps to help you stay the course.
The five steps to visualization success:
Step One: As I’ve said before, begin with only one affirmation and then after thirty days increase your daily affirmations to 2-3 depending on how comfortable you get. If you own a computer, then type the affirmations out in big font and print them. Then tape them everywhere that you can see them, like above your bed, on the bathroom mirror, refrigerator door. They will serve as your outer reminders to keep up with your daily positive thinking affirmations.
One of the most significant skills that we could have is listening. Our way and manner of listening could greatly affect our career effectiveness as well as our relationships with other people. We listen to acquire information and data, to learn, to enjoy, to understand, to appreciate and most importantly, to communicate efficiently.
It is plainly visible that listening is an ability that could be improved. Aside from doing some hearing health care practices like maintaining the external part of the ear, we should also give heed to how to properly listen to what others are saying. In order to become a better and effective listener, listen actively. One of the major causes of disagreements and communication breakdowns is not paying attention to what the other is saying. When a person listens actively, he or she makes a sensible effort to understand what the other person is saying.
Being excited by many different things has a corollary effect of experiencing insane boredom when you’re not doing the things you feel passionate about. But while you can fill up your time with varied and interesting projects, there will always be times when you are stuck doing something you don’t want to do. People who get very passionately excited also tend to get very frustratingly bored if being held back from what they want to do.
So, what do you do if you are itching to do something fun, but you just have to get this boring thing done because your boss, your coworkers, your family, your friends, your lecturers or a committee you volunteered to help are relying on you? It is not worth being antagonistic, you simply need to get the thing done. (more…)
We were not born with confidence, but this trait can be taught, nurtured and built over the years. With self confidence comes better self esteem. At any stage in life, confidence is something that can be learned. Dr. Karl Menninger once wrote, “Fears are educated into us, and they can, be educated out.” Confidence can be educated into us too.
Consider using these steps as the building blocks for greater confidence and self esteem.
1. Start writing a journal.
One way to do an effective self-analysis is to start with a personal journal or diary. Write down your perceptions about self-confidence. Write any thoughts that come to mind. Also, try to ask yourself what stops you from getting to a point in your life that you want to achieve. This practice does not work for everyone, so if, after experimenting with a journal, it does not increase your self-confidence, try another technique. (more…)
It is quite an easy task to get oneself a habit. Habit usually tends to grow on us without us thinking much of them. But if it is a bad habit such as smoking, drinking or eating too much, then getting rid of it takes time. That is the reason it is a good thing to have good habits right from the beginning.
We can have some really valuable habits in our lives. The kind of habits that will make certain that our life is a bed of roses. This can only happen if we are able to inculcate the right habits. Here are the five must have habits.
Exercise is a must have in every life. If you have long been stuck to your couch, then it is high time that you got off it. Exercise will not only help you to get a strong body, but will also make you strong mentally and emotionally. You can start with shorter duration of exercises and then move on further. (more…)
One of the core things we can all agree on as parents is that helping a child to develop positive self-esteem is very important. It is one of the corner stones to a mentally healthy life. Positive self-esteem allows children to be brave and reach out to try new things. Without knowing it, a positive feeling of self-worth allows children to fail without being failures. A parent, who through actions, shows a child that no matter what he does he is loved, helps their child develop a positive sense of belonging. And it is the belief that they belong, that what they say and do matters, empowers children to have self-respect.
We have modified ten ways to build self-esteem that we found on-line at the parent center.
1) Give unconditional love. A child’s self-esteem flourishes with the kind of no-strings-attached devotion that says, “I love you, no matter who you are or what you do.” Your child benefits the most when you accept her for who she is regardless of her strengths, difficulties, temperament, or abilities. So lavish her with love. Give her plenty of cuddles and kisses. And don’t forget to tell her how much you love her. When you do have to correct your child, make it clear that it’s her behavior - not her - that’s unacceptable. Instead of saying, “You’re a naughty girl! Why can’t you be good?” say, “Pushing Olivia isn’t nice. It can hurt. Please don’t push.” (more…)
