The idea of having kids is one thing that couple are always fond of. It is said that kids are not mere fruits of a couple’s love for each other; they are also set out to benefit from that love. Yeast Infection During Pregnancy

You know you’re pregnant when you start missing your period, feel breathless, nauseated and itchy. Pregnancy and itchy? When you’re pregnant, you’re home to a lovely baby and sometimes, a dreaded fungus. Yeast infection is thought of as a symptom of pregnancy because though not all, lots of women encounter this problem when they are pregnant.

Why should yeast infection target pregnant women?

Pregnant women are more vulnerable to yeast infection because increased levels of estrogen during pregnancy creates a favorable environment for yeast to breed. When a woman is pregnant, there are lots of hormonal structure changes in her body and sugar is let out of the body. These could be causes for yeast infection. Women in their second trimester are more vulnerable. Second trimester is the time when this happens most.

Pregnancy is three trimesters on a big hormonal roller coaster. For some women, these changes in hormones can bring blessed relief from migraines, especially in the second and third trimester. You will find that women go through a lot of changes when they are pregnant. They will also experience a lot of unwanted side effects. One of these side effects is suffering from a swollen face during pregnancy. The reason that this happens, is often because the body is producing a larger supply of body fluids as well as blood (often as much as 50% more fluids during pregnancy). The body does this so that it can soften and prepare the body’s joints for the birth of the baby, as well as support the baby while it is developing.

There is a lot of liquid that surrounds the baby in womb. This extra liquid can affect the feet, ankles, hands, fingers, and face of the mother. Many women do not mind the slight bloat of their hands and feet but when they have a swollen face during pregnancy, they feel less than the glowing person that they’re supposed to be, and often feel embarrassed to go out and enjoy their pregnancy. Pregnant women are more vulnerable to colds and flu. This is because during pregnancy, the immune system is often weakened which can make pregnant women more vulnerable to infections, such as coughs, colds and flu. Due to immune suppression pregnant women are also have a higher risk of developing complications such as pneumonia, which in severe cases can be fatal.

If you are pregnant, make sure you’re not taking any over-the-counter (OTC) medications without checking with your doctor. Many flu and cold medicines have not been evaluated in pregnant women. These drugs may increase the risk of birth defects or slow the growth of the fetus.
