Many women are plagued with the constant worry of how to stay in shape, or lose that extra pound, or just feel healthy. They are overrun with many different options and suggestions which eventually contradict themselves as well as interrupt their daily lives. There are easy ways to staying in shape without having to change too much and spend extra time focusing on it.

When the first things to do in order to lose some weight or get into shape is to take a look at our daily routine. There are some things that we can do to make some changes that will lead us to a healthier lifestyle. We often want are days to be simple and unfortunately the types of activities we choose to make it simpler actually makes us unhealthier. If we just make a few changes in our routine, such as taking a walk to the store rather than driving, or use the staircases, instead of that handy elevator, we may begin to get a little bit healthier. The bonus is it does not add time to our day and we will be able to get some of that much-needed exercise it. Try to find ways of making sure that you are walking and moving around throughout the day is a great way to start to get into shape.

Overcome Emotional Eating: Step 2

Step one to overcoming emotional eating is to start to observe your own behavior as if you are watching yourself. Journal what you are eating, when you are eating it and if you can identify what you are feeling. Start doing this for a week or two and really try to be consistent because then you will be able to see your eating patterns as they are associated with your emotional patterns.

The second step is to really give some thought to other options you can take besides eating. It sounds simple but it is often why we don’t give it a sincere effort. Remember just because it is simple doesn’t make it easy to follow through on. So the challenge here is to make a list of 5-7 things you can do when you observe your emotional triggers going off and you get the push to go for the junk food or what ever food you use to distract yourself from what stresses have just appeared in your day.

Did you know that emotional eating is one of the top reasons clients can’t lose weight when they come to me?

Emotional eating affects more people than you may realize and it varies greatly to what extent they are affected. Some individuals deal with it occasionally and others struggle with it daily. The big positive is that emotional eating is a learned behavior and that means we can unlearn it with the right tool, patience and support. No matter how out of control you may feel your eating is right now when it comes to emotions and food, you have the ability to unlearn it with a little time and effort and kick it to the curb for good. Won’t that be nice.
