Mary, a sixty five year old woman, sometimes wonder why she has so many bruises. She can’t remember ever hitting or running into anything. But, every time she looks down, she sees a bruise on her arm. Mary tries to recall her day in her head, but she can’t imagine when she acquired a bruise. It seems as though bruises have been getting easier to acquire as she got older. Mary decides to see a doctor because she can’t understand why bruises have been forming so easily on her body.

Like many older people, Jane notices that she bruises easier as she grows older. In fact, bruising is more common as age increases. Bruises form when your capillaries break as a result to an impact. Once you are a certain age, it won’t take a heavy fall or a hit by the door to leave a large bruise anymore.
