For most folks, when they say “I’m too tired to workout”, it’s really just an excuse. This is especially so, because exercise itself is an energy booster. But I will admit that there are a few that seriously don’t have the energy to get it done. They are so fatigued that sticking to a fitness plan becomes a very daunting task. Even if they do workout, it’s done ineffectively because they are so physicallly drained.
So how do you fix this problem? There are a few changes that you must make if you want things to change. As always, information is useless if you don’t apply it. So put this knowledge to work and be prepared to see a major improvement in your energy levels. It typically takes one or two weeks before you start to notice a difference.
Drink lots of water - Our body’s makeup is 55% - 60% water. That fact by itself should tell you how vital water is to your health. However, keep in mind that your kidneys need water to do their job (removing toxins from your blood). If they don’t get enough water, those toxins won’t be removed to the degree that they should. Once those toxins begin to accumulate you will start to feel tired and worn down. Even worse, disease and sickness can start to result. Drink at least 12 ounces of water with every meal and snack (5-6 per day), if you aren’t active. If you are active, you should be drinking about a gallon per day.
Get adequate sleep - This has to be the most critical step, however it may also be the most overlooked. Without getting enough sleep, there is absolutely no way your brain and body can recharge fully for the upcoming day. The minimum amount of sleep you need to get each night is six. However, you will be much better off getting eight.
Stretch your muscles every day - Keeping your muscles flexible means it requires less energy for them to work. When your muscles are inflexible, simple tasks such as walking, getting in and out of a chair, or reaching for things use up more energy than needed. While it probably isn’t something you notice with every movement, it adds up throughout the day and contributes to fatigue. You should make it a practice to stretch your body every day. It only requires three to four minutes of your time.
You must eat healthy - Going into full detail on the subject of healthy nutrition would require another article in itself. So let me give you a brief overview. Three meals and three snacks per day is what you should be consuming. You should be taking in generous portions of vegetables and fruits of different colors. Protein intake is also very important and should come from lean and clean white meat, in addition to fish. Lean red meat is also acceptable, but you should only eat it every 6-7 days. Eating all those fruits and veggies will give your body the vitamins it needs to stay charged all day long. The protein will make your metabolism speed up, which will also give you a boost in energy.
Apply these steps right away if you’ve been very low on energy. You will be very pleased with the change in how you feel. The energy you need to workout will now be on hand. Don’t forget to focus on positivity and always give your best effort.
