When using positive thinking affirmations, it’s best to follow a regular routine and specific way of doing your affirmations because that way once you get used to it, it becomes second nature. The early stages of doing affirmations are usually easy because you are driven and raring to go, but once a few days pass by, it requires more focus and control to maintain the affirmation program for the full thirty days. Try doing the following five steps to help you stay the course.

The five steps to visualization success:

Step One: As I’ve said before, begin with only one affirmation and then after thirty days increase your daily affirmations to 2-3 depending on how comfortable you get. If you own a computer, then type the affirmations out in big font and print them. Then tape them everywhere that you can see them, like above your bed, on the bathroom mirror, refrigerator door. They will serve as your outer reminders to keep up with your daily positive thinking affirmations.

Step Two: Every morning when you look in the mirror, look into your eyes and say your affirmations out loud with feeling and conviction. At first the feeling is almost certain to feel phony but as I’ve said before, “Fake it till you make it!” The more you do it, the more it will become a habit and the feelings will become real which means you are making real progress, so keep yourself aware of that.

Step Three: Feel your affirmations deeply as you say them. At first, predictably, its going to be a little strange doing that but as you practice and persevere with it, the feelings will become real and automatic because you will have programmed them into your subconscious mind.

Step Four: Randomly say your positive thinking affirmations to yourself throughout the day. This means that you have to be able to become more consciously aware so that you can stop and say “hey, I’m gonna do some affirmations right now.” Most of us don’t realise just how much we live our lives on automatic, driven by computer like programs that runs in the background in windows. Many of our daily actions are driven by these programs, and that is when the least thinking occurs. It seems that most of our thinking is done only when we are faced with a huge decision or problem and learning to become more aware so that you can begin using your affirmations will help you to take control of your mind again.

Step Five: Say your affirmations in a respectful and sacred way, but remember not to take yourself too seriously. Have fun with your reprogramming and enjoy the changes that happen to you as your positive thinking affirmations take root.
